Operation Broad Oak - Week 2 Update |
||
|
Dear Residents,
Operation Broad Oak is now in it's second week, and I would like to update you all with what your Safer Neighbourhoods Teams have been doing this week.
This update comes during Neighbourhood Policing Week, which highlights the key role neighbourhood officers play in keeping communities safe, building trust, and working alongside residents to tackle local concerns.
Neighbourhood policing is about much more than enforcement. It is about listening to local people, understanding the issues that matter most to them, and bringing together partners to deliver lasting solutions. Operation Broad Oak embodies this approach, combining targeted police action against crime and anti-social behaviour with long-term plans to improve public spaces and strengthen community resilience.
Planning for the FutureThis week, officers hosted a multi-agency meeting with a range of community partners to discuss the next phase of Operation Broad Oak.
Representatives from the local authority, the Business Improvement District (BID), community action groups and other local stakeholders came together to explore how public spaces across Acton can be improved and better used by residents.
Discussions included ideas to enhance The Mount as a more welcoming and vibrant community space, alongside early proposals for improvements to other parks and open spaces across the wards.
A key next step will be the creation of local Improvement Panels within each Operation Broad Oak area. These panels will give residents and community representatives a direct voice in shaping future improvements and helping determine local priorities. We look forward to sharing further updates as these plans develop.
Enforcement Activity ContinuesAlongside community engagement work, officers have continued proactive enforcement activity across Acton.
Tackling Persistent Anti-Social BehaviourOfficers have provided information to the Probation Service that has resulted in a recall being authorised for an individual linked to Operation Broad Oak.
The individual was arrested last week in connection with serious offences and had previously been charged with breaching a Community Protection Notice (CPN). Following further reports from members of the public, additional breaches have now been identified and further action will be taken when the individual returns to custody.
This is an important step in addressing the behaviour of a prolific offender who has been responsible for significant anti-social behaviour affecting local residents.
Community Protection PowersDuring the week, officers issued: These interventions primarily targeted alcohol and drug-related anti-social behaviour affecting areas including: Proactive PatrolsOfficers also carried out a further 7 stop and searches, focusing on intelligence-led activity to disrupt drug-related offending and keep local public spaces safe.
Addressing Drug-Related ActivitySignificant evidence has also been gathered regarding an address in Acton believed to be associated with drug-related activity.
As a result, officers are now exploring the use of a Closure Order, which would help protect residents from ongoing nuisance and criminality while disrupting those responsible.
Thank You to Our CommunityOperation Broad Oak continues to show the value of residents, community groups, local partners and police working together to tackle issues that matter most to local people.
We would like to thank everyone who has provided information, attended meetings and supported the project so far. The information shared by residents is helping us take action and deliver meaningful improvements across Acton.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
